I do not want to make any health claims on this recipe as I’m not a doctor or skincare professional. However, I’m so happy to speak from experience! I’ve been drinking this glowing skin smoothie everyday for the past month and have noticed a huge difference in not only my energy, but my skin has never looked better. And the best part? This green smoothie actually tastes good.
A few things first…
- The avocado. Avocados are known to hydrate the skin, bringing back that glow we all love.
- The mangos and pineapple. Mangos contain carotenoids, which help our skin glow. My dermatologist told me that these carotenoids help give a rosy glow to dull looking skin. And pineapples are high in vitamin C, which I’ve learned is key to the production of collagen, giving our skin its firmness and strength.
- Spinach OR kale may be used. Both nutrient dense super foods that I also use in my green smoothie recipe. I also love adding a handful to my creamy butternut squash mac and cheese. (Make it for dinner!)
- Coconut water. This is known to be incredibly hydrating.
The frozen banana (just like in my orange creamsicle smoothie and chocolate peanut butter protein smoothie) and avocado leave it incredibly thick. The mango and pineapple sweeten things up, the coconut water thins it out and helps it blend, and the greens pack one HUGE nutrient punch.
If you need a smoothie recipe without banana, my berry smoothie without bananas fits the bill.

Instructions
Notes
- Special Tools (affiliate links): Blender (like this Ninja or this Vitamix)
- Coconut Water: If you don’t have coconut wanter, use regular water or almond milk or your favorite juice. If not using coconut water, perhaps add a touch of coconut oil which I’ve learned is great for skin.
- Substitutions: If you do not like any of the fruits listed, simply replace with another fruit used. Or add strawberries or blueberries.
Such a refreshing and tasty green smoothie recipe!
This recipe is delicious! I’m not a big fan of smoothies but I really enjoyed this! I added blueberries instead of banana and chia seeds. Will be having this every day in hopes my skin and energy improves.
Such amazing ingredients for skin! And this smoothie is so delicious. Esthetician approved for sure.
I’m so glad you said I can replace pineapple as I’m on a medication where I can’t have pineapple. I will use another fruit. Will try this soon.
Can’t wait to try this smoothie. Just wanted to ask if we can add milk along with the coconut water. Is it okay to add both milk and coconut water together?
Delicious! This is our go-to smoothie! The avocado makes it so thick and creamy! I always sub out the bananas for 2 cups of frozen mangoes or pineapple. Thank you for this amazing recipe!
I’m on day 17 for this smoothie, it’s absolutley amazing and I’m addicted to them now!! My energy levels have doubled and my skin is glowing, Dosent tast anything like it does it tastes fabulous thank you sally for introducing a drink I cannot go a day without!!
Sally!
Thank you so much for this recipe. My hubby and I have been drinking it almost daily for 3 years since before our wedding. When we drink it regularly we see so much improvement in our skin and overall health – it’s chalk full of great, wholesome ingredients!
What I like to do to make it quicker in the morning is add all of the ingredients apart from banana and coconut water into freezer bags so I can just grab and dump into the blender!
Just made this for the first time today – so good and I included a shot of wheatgrass!! Yum!!! Can’t wait to see the results! I’ve done avocado on a regular basis before and recalled my skin just GLOWING!!! Can’t wait to see that again…and it happened just after a few days! Thanks for sharing this recipe!!
Love that you can barely taste the avocado and spinach. I made mine with coconut milk instead of water , so delicious! Thanks!
This is so good. What a great treat on a dreary winter day! To commenter Jamie – you cannot taste the avocado; it just provides a nice creaminess (along with the banana).
Looking forward to the second half of this smoothie as an afternoon snack.
Can you actually taste the avocado? I just can’t stomach the slimy green mushiness, lol. My skin needs some serious work and I really wanna try this.
i’ve been drinking this smoothie for 4 days and last night someone told me i was glowing 🙂 thanks -great recipe!
Just made this for the first time, it was delicious! I’ve never been a fan of spinach or avocado so I was sceptic about trying it but you can’t even taste them, yet they’re so healthy! If you love banana, you’ll love this smoothie! It was rather thick so I may have to use more milk next time!
This smoothie is delicious!!! This is only my second one for the week so I haven’t noticed if it’s helped my skin yet but the taste is fantastic, even my 8 year old loves it who wouldn’t eat any of the ingredients in it separately!
I have been taken a smoothie daily for the past month or so.
I have also been using great skin products on my skin for months. I started to notice a line forming on my forehead and now that line is GONE! I dont know if it’s from the skin products I was using or if it was from the smoothies. I think it may have been from the avocado I have been taken daily in my smoothie 🙂 I always use coconut water, strawberries, blueberries, a banana, kale (sometimes) and mango sometimes I also put chia seeds into my smoothie sometimes 🙂 My skin looks great lately 🙂
This smoothie is SO delicious! I make them one serving at a time and need a full cup of water to get it moving through my Vitamix. All those frozen chunks of fruit make it SUPER thick. Thanks for posting this yummy and healthy recipe, Sallysbakingaddition!
Thank you Sally! This is by far the best green smoothie I have tried. I was a little scared of the avocado but man it makes it so creamy and delicious. Thank you for sharing your secret weapon with us. Glow on girl! 🙂
I have wanted to try this recipe for months and finally had a chance to do so today and the result is delicious. I love the addition of avocado, spinach and flax, these healthy ingredients make you feel good while enjoying this drink. As a bonus, my two year old toddler likes it as much as I do. What a great way to get some much needed nutrients into his diet. Thanks for another amazing recipe.
I just made this and it is delicious! I threw in 1/3 cup each of carrot juice and pineapple aloe Vera juice. I am planning to drink this daily from now on!
This is the best smoothie recipe I have tried ( and I have tried aloooot). Thank you so much for sharing- glad to have this in my repertoire
Just tried this and it was wonderful! My 3year old loved it as well. Thank you for this!!
Have had my eye on this recipe for r sometime now and finally our Australian summer has kicked in and the tropical fruits have hit the shelves! As I don’t have the greatest skin either (teenage years -_-) and my friend said this made her skin BEYOND AMAZING I just had to give it a go before Christtmas to: 1. Get some actual nutrients into me before bombarded with Christmas treats. AND 2. Make my skin look fresher for all the people I will see and photos I will be in! So threw banana, mango, blueberries, kale, cucumber, avocado and water + coconut oil into my blender and although the colour didn’t look great at all, it tasted DELISH! Thanks so much Sally, can’t wait to see the results on my skin!
I just found this site while looking for smoothie ideas to help my skin, rushed out and bought the ingredients and made it. This smoothie is absolutely delicious! I’m actually not keen on mango or coconut water separately but altogether it’s wonderful! Highly recommended!
Just wanted to say that my family and I have been enjoying this emmensly for the last two weeks. Thanks for a great recipe!
Super super thick!!! (I used all frozen fruits) I almost broke my vitamix! Added extra coconut water.. Finally got it blended. And it was absolutely delicious!!! I still had to use a spoon at first though, but I didn’t mind. It was like healthy ice cream!
